The Equipment and Methods

The Spinal Dynamics' studio programs are inspired by combining GYROTONIC®

and GYROKINESIS® methods of fitness and training. Founded by Juliu Horvath, the methods are orginal and unique movement practices with roots in Yoga, Tai Chi, and dance. Whether used for therapeutic and rehabilitative purposes, injury prevention or overall body conditioning, Spinal Dynamics creates fitness sessions to provide control and ease in your everyday movements.

GYROTONIC® Method

This is the core of Julio Horvath's methodology, the creator of this unique and innovative training system.
This method of movement affects your entire body, by systematically and gently working your joints and muscles through rhythmic and undulating movements. The body’s internal organs and circulation are stimulated, as corresponding breathing patterns are integrated throughout movement. Your exercises incorporate seven natural directions of spinal movement including forward, backward, left and right side, left and right rotation and circular. It also mobilizes all joint articulations throughout the body.

Fluidity is the key with this exercise program. Postures are smoothly and harmoniously connected through the use of breath, making the exercises feel more like a dance than holding postures used in traditional yoga.

GYROKINESIS® Method

This unique and inovative method, systematically works the joints and muscles through rhythmic and undulating movements. In additioned to increasing physical strength and flexibility, the body's internal organs and circulation are stimulated as cooresponding breath patterns are intergrated throughout the movements. Fluidity is the key with this exercise program. Postures and positions are smoothly connected thorugh the use of breath, making the exercises feel more like a dance than the holding of postures.

GYROTONIC® METHOD EQUIPMENT

Leg Extension Unit

Leg Extension Unit

The Leg Extension Unit facilitates functional full, body movement sequences that strengthen upper/lower body coordination, and hand/foot coordination. Contra-lateral movement sequences in various planes increase functional strength and stability at all joints. A unique, patented, cam mechanism allows the leg to elongate, as it extends. So, the hip and knee joints are able to move in a fluid, natural range, without compression, increasing stability and strength around those joints.

Jumping Stretch Board

Jumping Stretch Board

A broad range of exercise sequences and modification options make the Jumping Stretching Board accessible to people of all levels of strength and flexibility. Jumping Stretching Board exercise sequences are composed of full body, functional exercises, performed in a variety of body positions- kneeling, standing, lying and sitting. A diverse range of standing exercises improve flexibility, coordination, and functional strength.

Pulley Tower

Pulley Tower

The pulley tower provides smooth, even support and resistance via a unique, weighted pulley system. The adjustable bench and rotating handle unit can be customized to fit the individual proportions, and movement capacities of each user. The design of the equipment supports the full, and natural range of motion of the joints, allowing for three dimensional, functional movement, and eliminating the sharp starts and stops where most injury occurs.

Archway

Archway

The Archway is considered by many to be the most physically demanding piece of specialized equipment. The vertical, tiered ladder design of the Archway accommodates advanced strength and stability sequences by allowing users to perform exercises in various relationships to gravity- vertical, horizontal, diagonal, and inverted. The included propeller accessory and adjustable arms provide standing, and rotation exercises for people of various abilities- beginners to advanced.
